The reference for this painting came from an unexpected, candid moment. During a photo session, a father paused and gathered his little daughter into his arms. As she nestled against him, completely comfortable and safe, the camera captured something that could never have been posed quite the same way.
I knew I wanted to paint that tenderness as an image of Christ.
There are moments when we hold a child or grandchild close and catch a glimpse of what it means to be completely trusted—to be someone’s place of comfort and safety.
I believe the Savior holds us with that same tenderness.
No matter how old we become, we are still His children. We can rest in Him, bring Him the places that hurt, and trust that His arms are never empty.
In His embrace, we are known, loved, carried, and perfectly safe.
