This painting began with my sister’s work with children and families in the Dominican Republic. She shared with me how rarely the children she loved saw sacred artwork depicting Christ with people who looked like them.
This little boy was one of the children whose life had touched theirs, and I wanted to imagine him exactly where I believe every child belongs—within the loving arms of the Savior.
As I painted Christ looking into his face, I thought about how completely He knows each of His children. Across every nation, language, circumstance, and corner of this earth, not one is unseen or outside His embrace.
Every child is His.
Every child is known.
Every child is beloved.
